Tata settles $7.3 billion dues for sale of mobile business

Tata Sons, the group holding company, paid the department of telecommunications (DoT) Rs 10,000 crore late last month, days after settling all pending loans worth Rs 40 lakh crore owed by unit Tata Teleservices, the Mumbai-based group said. The disposal of Tata’s phone business was part of an industry consolidation triggered by the entry of Reliance Jio Infocomm in 2016.
