Jet Airways now operating only 14 planes; Naresh Goyal may bid for airline

“Jet is operating 14 aircraft today (Thursday),” said a senior DGCA official. These aircraft are a mix of wide body, Boeing 737s and ATRs. Government rules stipulate an airline must have at least 20 planes to be eligible to fly abroad. But since an attempt is being made to revive the airline by Government-owned SBI, it remains to be seen if it will be formally barred from flying abroad as the airline anyway is operating a handful of flights these days.
